Topic starter

After seeing reports all week of the SD boats getting good numbers on Yellowtail, it was time to head down to get in on this bite.  Made a plan for Saturday and Filed all necessary paperwork. Geoff Heldoorn joined me early in the morning,  headed down to Mission Bay loaded the boat and launched. Skipped buying dines and made mackeral off Point Loma, which was key for the day.  Arrived at Rockpile, crowded but not too bad.  Slow trolled macks while metering for schools to drop irons on. It didn't take long before our first hookup, nice schoolie size Yellowtail. Geoff was next with a slightly larger Yellowtail.  The day continues on, slow trolled baits getting bit. We ended up going 5 for 6 on Yellowtail, all on macks slow trolled.  Not yo-yo bites for us, macks made the difference.

Nice fat fish. Good catches and better eats.
